Hi! I’m Felicia, and I really love food, cooking and eating. I also like to feel and look my best, with a healthy strong body. For some people those two concepts don’t go very well together, but over the last few years my health and relationship with food have been totally transformed. My goal is to share recipes, ideas and information with others who also want to lead a healthy life while maintaining the delish factor.
I have lost over 100 pounds in a period of about 2 years and gone from feeling like I would never be healthy again to feeling great. You can read more about my story here. I want to encourage other people looking to get or stay healthy. If you are desperate and unsure what to do, you’re in the right place. I’ve been there!
I eat what I refer to as paleo-ish, which is essentially paleo plus some full-fat dairy and sometimes rice or gluten-free foods as treats. I do not try to be a purist according to the “official” system in any way, although I have learned so much from paleo resources and that is what shifted my thinking and, in turn, my results, so I would highly recommend you do too. The maintstays of my diet are meats and eggs, fruits and veggies, and plenty of healthy fat. Nuts, cheese, and paleo sweets are sprinkled in for interest. I don’t personally care about the evolutionary argument attached to the paleo diet, I just know that I feel good when I eat this way. If you want to learn more about it, check out some of my favorite resources: Robb Wolf or Mark Sisson for starters.
In my opinion there has been a huge amount of misinformation and flat out false claims about health and wellness over the last 50 years. A lot of us, myself included, have had to rethink the entire paradigm of what we thought was true about health and wellness. I was a low-fat believer in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, and let me tell you, I was hungry all the time and eventually my weight spiraled out of control because I didn’t have foundational principles that were working. I know it can be hard to question everything you think is true, but finding a way of doing things that works with your body naturally producing health and controlling weight is priceless.
If you are reading this, I am just getting started on my blogging adventure and I hope you’ll stick around because I have big plans! I would love to hear from you and know what kinds of food or information you would most like to see.
